The standard materials for the seal include elastomer NBR 70 Zwart for the sealing element, spring steel according to DIN EN 10270-1 for the springs, and sheet steel according to DIN EN 10139 for the reinforcing ring. However, special materials such as FKM, VMQ (Silicone), ACM, HNBR, CR, EPDM, rust, and acid-resistant steel 1.4301 are available for specific requirements.

The usage parameters for the Oil Seal DB depend on the chosen material combination. The seal can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +100 degrees Celsius. The maximum pressure for unpressurized applications should not exceed 0.02 MPa. The recommended maximum circumferential speed is 5 m/s. The seal is compatible with mineral oil lubricants and synthetic lubricants, but caution should be exercised when using synthetic lubricants without available experience data. It is recommended to conduct laboratory tests or practical trials to ensure compatibility. The operating temperature should not exceed +80 degrees Celsius for optimal performance.

In terms of construction, the Oil Seal DB adheres to specific design guidelines. The tolerance for the shaft is ISO H11, ensuring a precise fit. The hardness should be a minimum of 45 HRC to guarantee durability. The roughness of the shaft surface should be within the range of Ra= 0.2 - 0.8 μm, Rz 1-5 μm, and Rmax ≤ 6.3 μm. Similarly, the housing should have a tolerance of ISO H8, a roughness of Ra = 1.6 - 6.3 μm, Rz = 6.3 - 16 μm, and Rmax ≤ 16 μm, to ensure a proper fit and sealing performance.
