Oil Seal DB: Reliable Double-Action Sealing for Media Separation

The Oil Seal DB is a high-quality sealing solution designed with a double-action sealing lip, offering enhanced performance and efficiency. It features two sealing lips supported by coil springs, ensuring reliable sealing in demanding applications. The outer sheath of the seal is made of durable metal, providing durability and resistance to external factors.

What sets the Oil Seal DB apart are its special features that enable efficient media separation. It effectively separates two different media with its seal, providing a reliable barrier between them. The seal incorporates two sealing lips in a single component, offering enhanced sealing performance. The housing of the Oil Seal DB is designed to be rigid and provide an exact fit through a press fit mechanism, ensuring a secure and precise installation. However, it is important to exercise caution when using the seal with alloy housings, housings with surface roughness, and applications involving overpressure. In such cases, it is advisable to use a sealing aid on the outer jacket if necessary, ensuring optimal sealing performance and protection.

The applications of the Oil Seal DB primarily involve the separation of two different media in rotating machine elements. It is commonly used in various industries where effective media separation is essential for the proper functioning of machinery and equipment.

When it comes to materials, the Oil Seal DB utilizes high-quality components to ensure durability and performance. The standard materials for the seal include elastomer NBR 70 Zwart for the sealing element, spring steel according to DIN EN 10270-1 for the springs, and sheet steel according to DIN EN 10139 for the reinforcing ring. However, special materials such as FKM, VMQ (Silicone), ACM, HNBR, CR, EPDM, rust, and acid-resistant steel 1.4301 are available for specific requirements.

The usage parameters for the Oil Seal DB depend on the chosen material combination. The seal can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +100 degrees Celsius. The maximum pressure for unpressurized applications should not exceed 0.02 MPa. The recommended maximum circumferential speed is 5 m/s. The seal is compatible with mineral oil lubricants and synthetic lubricants, but caution should be exercised when using synthetic lubricants without available experience data. It is recommended to conduct laboratory tests or practical trials to ensure compatibility. The operating temperature should not exceed +80 degrees Celsius for optimal performance.

In terms of construction, the Oil Seal DB adheres to specific design guidelines. The tolerance for the shaft is ISO H11, ensuring a precise fit. The hardness should be a minimum of 45 HRC to guarantee durability. The roughness of the shaft surface should be within the range of Ra= 0.2 - 0.8 μm, Rz 1-5 μm, and Rmax ≤ 6.3 μm. Similarly, the housing should have a tolerance of ISO H8, a roughness of Ra = 1.6 - 6.3 μm, Rz = 6.3 - 16 μm, and Rmax ≤ 16 μm, to ensure a proper fit and sealing performance.

In summary, the Oil Seal DB is a reliable double-action sealing solution for effectively separating different media in rotating machine elements. With its robust construction, special features, and adherence to usage parameters and construction guidelines, it ensures optimal performance and durability in various industrial applications. When choosing the Oil Seal DB, you can expect high-quality sealing performance and protection for your machinery and equipment.
